Unclutter Your Mind To Find Success

What Do You Mean Unclutter Your Mind?

I don’t know about you, but I have a tough time of letting go sometimes. I’ll have an idea that I thought would be great for a product and I have to beat it to death before I even start moving away from it. Even then I find that I keep it in the back of my mind instead of dropping it. This causes me and can cause you to have a brain filled with so much leftover crap that thinking straight becomes a chore. That’s why learning to unclutter your mind is so very important.

Here’s an example to illustrate my point. Recently, I had negotiations with a publisher that was starting up an in-house affiliate program. Their product is first rate but their understanding of affiliate programs is still developing. Things didn’t pan out and I passed on the program. Or did I?

Sure, I thanked them for their help and information and wrote them that I would not be joining at this time. However, I still filed it in my mind as a future possibility. This is a mistake and let me tell you why.

In internet marketing we are bombarded with tons of opportunities, info products and programs. The last thing we need to do is hold onto anything that we are not going to pursue. That smacks of hope rather than any kind of plan. Go ahead and save the emails if you want but that should be it. That’s what I did. I decided to pass on the program mentally and it feels good. I completely discarded the possibility of moving forward with that program.

How Will That Help Me Find Success?

We need to have our brains thinking as clearly as possible when we are planning what actions to take to find success. If you turn down an opportunity on paper but keep it stored in your head it’s very easy to get lulled into a false sense of accomplishment which hurts your judgment. Let’s face it, you won’t be as keen to take on some opportunities if you think you’ve got several nets in the water already. The more of this you keep in your head the easier it is to fool yourself this way.

The next time you do research and decide something is not for you, take that one step further and mentally discard the idea. Like anything else, the more you practice this the better you’ll get at it. Before long you’ll find your mental load lightened and you’ll even become quicker at making these decisions.

I just let go of a website that was my very first website. I've had this domain for eight years, and held onto it simply because of nostalgia. This was the site I cut my teeth on for creating a site from scratch. But, truth be told, I didn't make a dime off it. I think that's pretty accurate.

Every now and then I would think of this site, and think about what I could do to make it better. But the topic no longer interests me. So, it was time to wave bye-bye to it, and hope that someone else would pick it up and care for it the way I didn't. One bit of my mind is now uncluttered.

    Hi Rochelle,

This is a topic that I'm knee deep in right now…sloughing off the
sites that I don't care about or are just causing me to feel like I'm
    never done everyday.

I'll be letting go of a few. Since selling domains is not something
I feel I have the time to do right at this time I'll probably just
yank them and let them expire.

One of the biggest disservices that internet marketing gurus do for
their followers is to tell them to start by blogging. I think this
is a huge mistake unless you really spend the time to find what you
want to blog about and how interested you really are in it.

Thanks for dropping by and I hope your house is getting back into
shape on a good schedule. Don't make yourself sick..oh wait…I just
read you already have…well, don't do it again, OK?
