Fuel For Your Fire-Part One

Human beings are an interesting lot. The things that motivate us can be as specific as a savings account with $100,00.00 in it or as general as a pat on the back. We each have our own definitions of success and failure and nobody can dictate these to us. The only thing that seems to be universal is that we each need to feel like we matter and that we’re making progress towards our goals. Otherwise, we stagnate and risk falling prey to any number of vices that hopelessness can breed.

I’m writing today to give you a report on where I’ve come from, where I’m at and where I want to be. Let’s back up a bit to tell you where I’m coming from.

Where It Started

I’ve spent the last 20 years since graduating from college working for restaurants, insurance companies and preferred provider networks in all different capacities including down-sized worker. Following that down-sizing, I went to work for myself in 2006 selling mint vintage children’s books on ebay. The collection lasted until April of this year.

Since that time, I have been building blogs and websites with a community in mind. I’ve purchased a few infoproducts and put them into practice. Some worked, some did not. I’ve done some affiliate campaigns with varied results. I’ve made a ton of mistakes but learned some great lessons from quality people like Lynn Terry, Mark Hansen, Ed Dale and Jeremy Palmer. The one guiding principle I had was that I was going to get where I wanted to be. I just needed to find the way to do it.

In short, I needed fuel for my fire. I had to continue to make progress while I continued to learn.

It’s No Cake Walk

I completely understand why people get into internet marketing and can’t stay the course. Right from the start, you’re given pieces of a huge puzzle by professionals as if they were a complete picture. These people have already figured out you don’t have to teach somebody how to make money in order to make it yourself. Of course, not all making money online people are like that or I would never have learned what I have so far. However, the level of knowledge that a newbie needs just to be able to sniff out a phony is not there at the start. I think that’s why the first few months to year can be the most frustrating for us.
