Clarity Is The Key To Success

What Have I Been Up To?

I Know You’ve Been Busy But…

These days, who isn’t busy? Let me give you a small look at what I’ve been doing so when I make announcements in the future you won’t be caught completely off guard. I’m really excited about the outlook for 2009 and I want to let you know why.

2009 Is About Slimming Down

I spent most of 2008 learning as much as I could as fast as I could. Because of this, I’ve found that I have way too much on my plate and it’s time for a diet. I advise everybody who feels like they’re being pulled in too many directions to take a good hard look at what you’re doing and how it aligns with your passions. Jeremy Shoemaker gave an excellent webinar on blog monetization where he talks a lot about doing things you believe in and canning the other stuff. I’ve been making adjustments since early this year but his webinar really got me looking hard at how I spend my days.

As a result, I have completely shutdown and deleted one niche site I started on a whim in late 2008; got involved in a very promising joint venture and decided to concentrate only on things that really motivate me and removing the rest. I will be shutting down probably one more site within the next month.

Don’t worry…learning how to make money online and being able to teach this to others IS something that inspires me so this blog won’t be going anywhere. In fact, it should help me increase my posting frequency and I’ve got a few surprises coming down the pike for you. I’ll give you more info as it develops.

2009 Sees My First Joint Venture

Everybody talking about JVs, right? Then how come I’m not doing one? Well, now I am. Along with Mark Hansen of TheNicheStoreBuilder and Rochelle Kirby of NicheStoreStrategies, I will be testing and reviewing everything from WordPress affiliate themes to PPC marketing tools and everything in between. The site is called ScriptCritics and I want you to go check it out. We’ve already got a ton of reviews on the site. Honest, no holds barred reviews of products you’ve been thinking about getting but weren’t sure they were worth it.

I’ll be posting more about the big launch coming up next month but I wanted to give you the heads up to go take a look before then.

2009 Will See My First Product Launch

Now before you think I’m picking out waterfront property somewhere let me just tell you that my first product will be a low cost report. I have a passion niche that I’ve been dying to write a short report for and I’m going to do it. I have been listening to my readers and I know this is something that will do well. Not huge but well. It should also help to increase my newsletter subscription rate as well.

2009 Will See Me Getting Serious About PPC

Ever since I participated in Jeremy Palmer’s Black Ink Project I’ve had a desire to try out what I’ve learned in the real world. Jeremy is a super affiliate and he’s done it primarily through Pay Per Click marketing. I’ve done some low level landing page testing with PPC but nothing serious. The main problem I had was lack of sufficient funds to really do it right.

Well, because things have turned around a bit for me and with the help of SpeedPPC, an excellent PPC campaign building suite of tools and Optimize My Site, a full-featured campaign analysis tool, I’m going to dive in feet first.

No, I won’t go from zero to $5000.00 per month in a few short weeks. I’m still training with both programs and will be uploading campaigns on a limited basis until I’m comfortable with the process. Then I plan to gradually ramp up my PPC marketing to the extent budget and time will permit. I’ll make sure to leave you in the loop about how it’s going.

What About You?

I want to know what you’ve been working on, what successes or failures you’ve had and anything you’d like to tell me about your progress this year. Also, if you have any products you’d like to see reviewed let me know about that too.

FOCUS FOCUS FOCUS! haha.. I had a blog post not too long ago about this very thing… I spent wayyyy too much time reading, and not enough time applying what I was reading to a daily work habit!

I literally feel brain dead right now… I have really busted my butt trying to get “thin” sites “thick” haha Focusing on fewer sites just like you! The hard work is paying off, but it's wearing me out hahah

I have a couple of sites that I have absolutely no interest in and I really need to sell.. but they make a little $$ so I'm always rethinking that option.. ha!

I've visited the script critics site and you all do a great job over there!

    Hi Jake,

I'm doing the same type of things you are. It's slow but it is paying off.
    Stick with it!

In regards to sites making a little money…if you don't have enough passion
or interest to get it to make a LOT of money then SELL IT. Go to ebay or
Godaddy auctions and give the stats. You should at least make back what
you've paid for it. Plus, you never know what somebody is going to decide
    they HAVE to have.

The reason I say this comes down to the one thing we don't get any more
of-time. That was a problem especially early for me. I would think I was
only spending a little time on stuff and all that little time added up to a
lot of time I wasn't spending on good stuff.

Thanks for stopping by here and your props on the SC site.

    Hi Mark,

Thanks for stopping by and adding your thoughts here.

By my math, that means you are going to mothball in the neighborhood of
    50-100 sites? LOL!

I've still got some trimming to do but I'm going to be one lean, mean money
    making machine!

2009 is going to be the best yet.
