There I was…trying one affiliate program and then another. Trying to follow-through with what I started while not exactly knowing what I was doing.
I would buy an info product, read it and do my best to follow the instructions given. Being into internet marketing from my ebay store only a few months, I was getting frustrated because I didn’t know why I was doing anything or how it fit together.
Then I found a link in one of my info products to a forum. Having read that they can be a way to generate traffic I thought I’d give it a try. It was the best click I’ve made since starting internet marketing.
The click was to the Self Starters Weekly Tips forum . It is hosted by Lynn Terry who also writes a killer blog at Clicknewz.com which hosts a free weekly webinar. I lurked around a bit to see what kind of numbers they had for the posts and contributors. I could see that contributors included both seasoned pros and “what the hell am I doing?” newbies like myself. I liked what I saw and decided to post to see what would happen.
After all, isn’t that the TRUE test of a forum-“can I get an answer to my question?”
Not only did I get a lightening-fast response to my question but-drum roll, please-it came from the moderator herself. I was speechless!
The response showed a real interest in solving my problem and not trying to show me how stupid I was-an experience we’ve all had from other forums, haven’t we?-and patience that can only come from somebody who knows if you put in the work you can make internet marketing work for you.
Since that first response, I have had many other of my internet marketing questions solved by Lynn and other SSWT contributors. Each one exhibiting the same level of professionalism as the original response had.
I think I’ve found a place I can get comfortable and really learn the ropes from people who have been there and can share my experiences with those not quite there yet.
I’m excited about this project because it appears to take you through the steps for a successful site and that is really what I need right now.
I hope you’ll join me in looking at BANS in my next post.
