Update
After months in the making, Jeremy Palmer finally released his Black Ink Project 2 course to the public. Get all of the details on the Black Ink Project 2 Homepage.
Jeremy Palmers Black Ink Project: Review of Day 6
This is the sixth installment of Jeremy Palmers Black Ink Project series.
In this series, I will be reporting on my participation in Jeremy Palmers Black Ink Project webinar training course.
Each day, I will post the topic from the previous day’s session and will share at least one important idea that I took away from the session. These posts are intended as an overview of the webinars and NOT to replace participation in them.
Background
For those of you that don’t know him, Jeremy Palmer is the author of the(now free)mega-hit ebook called “High Performance Affiliate Marketing“. In this book, he details how he went from barely showing a profit to a super-affiliate.
Today’s Topic: Architecting A Bulletproof Site
Today’s session was packed full of both conceptual and technical considerations for designing your site. I will be covering the highlights only. Sign up at http://www.theblackinkproject.com for all of the slides, recordings and other visuals.
Highlights
Here is a list of the topics covered in this webinar:
- The two most important questions to ask about your site.
- What are your site goals?
- What is your site building budget?
- You need to take a personal skills inventory.
- Planning your site content.
- Site navigation: one of the most underrated considerations.
- Types of site navigation: browse, search, contextual and next step/funnel.
- Creating a site/page wireframe.
- Nine tips for readable content.
- Eight ways to make your site faster.
- Ten guidelines for site usability.
- Content Management Systems(CMS): when to use one and what are your choices.
As you can see, there was a TON of great content covered in this webinar. Keep in mind this course allows you to attend live sessions or download the course materials for self-paced independent study. There is no reason to feel like you are behind at any time.
You just need to make a time budget each day for working on this project.
My Top Take-Away
Jeremy will be using a Content Management System for our project website. He says this is a change he will be making for all of the sites he builds from this point on. The only thing he recommends mini or micro-sites for is to assess demand for your niche on Yahoo or Microsoft Ad networks because Google is cracking down on mini-sites.
