There is no debating that keyword research is very important to online success. Knowing what people are searching for and offering them information and products relating to that need can be the difference between building websites and growing a business.
The same is true for starting a blog. If all you want to do is blab on about the state of the world to whomever may be reading than keyword research probably isn’t that important to you.
However, if you intend to construct a portal that allows you to speak directly to people who are interested in your topic and can’t wait for your next post, some work needs to be done.
Fortunately, Brian Clark at Copyblogger has put together a short five-part series called “Keyword Research for Bloggers.”
In it, he discusses why it’s so important to find out not just the words people are searching for but the related terms that can be used to drive these people to your blog and affiliate sites.
Here’s what’s covered:
- Keyword Research: It’s Not What You Think
- How to Choose a Popular Niche for Your Blog
- How to Find Post Topics That Score Big
- Keyword Research Can Help You Make Money From Your Blog
- A Primer on Keyword Research Tools
I’ve read through these reports and I believe it to be an absolute must read for anybody interested in starting or monetizing a blog.
Let me know what you learned from it and post a comment below.

Thanks for this post Jeff. I read the series and find it interesting. Actually I have read so much information about keyword research that now all seems ‘deja vu’ to me. I recently read an article on keyword research which was a sort of eye-opener for me. I suggest you to read that also as it contains some unexpected information about keyword research. Read it here :
