Being a newbie internet marketer can feel like the job that never ends. You try to set goals and organize your work so you get the important things done.
Yet, you are bombarded daily with new things to learn, the latest, greatest money making scheme and a list of things that have to be fixed on projects you thought you had completed.
It’s very easy to feel like you’re not getting anywhere. Before you commit to working ten or more extra hours every week, stop and ask yourself a question:
“When was the last time I did something I really wanted to do instead of something I thought I had to do?”
Be honest with yourself now. I’ll wait while you answer. Take your time.
Ok, I know that it’s easy to say if you have a passion for what you’re doing then it’s not really work.
Be careful.
Here’s how you can tell if the activity qualifies:
- It serves no other purpose than to make you happy.
- It allows you to forget for a while the mountain of work you have to do.
- Doing this thing nearly always opens your mind to creative thought.
How many of us can honestly say this about our day-to-day internet marketing activities?
I’m not suggesting that our passion for what we do doesn’t run deep or that any of us is merely going through the motions. Lack of enthusiasm creates dispassionate results which would never sustain somebody in this business.
I’m just asking you to keep work in perspective and your life in balance.
So, the next time you feel like you’re getting nowhere, play with your child, take your dog for a walk or read a book. Whatever you do just for the sake of doing it. It doesn’t matter what it is.
The most important thing is that you give yourself time and permission to do it.
Best,
